Who's heard of this show? It screened on HBO last year and I'm really hoping it'll screen here at some stage soon. The show is set in 1934, in the Steinbeckian world of America's " Dustbowl". It stars Nick Stahl ( Bully, Disturbing Behaviour) as a fugitive who is given refuge by a travelling carnival. The series also stars Clancy Brown ( Starship Troopers, ER) as a righteous preacher. The story revolves mainly around these two characters, leading towards a battle of good and evil. Or so I've read. Now, I haven't seen a single episode of this show, so I know I shouldn't be selling it like this, but I've heard a lot of good things. I first heard of it while looking into stuff that other cast members of Undeclared had done since; this show features Carla Gallo in a smaller role (she plays a dancer or somesuch). I know some of you will be interested to hear that it also features Michael J. Anderson, the legendary "man from another place" in Twin Peaks. As a matter of fact, I've heard this show compared to Twin Peaks in terms of high mystery and excitement. I'm guessing that, should it make it here, Channel 9 (d'oh!) will be the ones to screen it: they've screened just about all of HBO's big shows in the last five or six years ( Sex and the City, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under), but no sign yet. Let's hope its big enough. Fingers crossed. www.imdb.com/title/tt0319969/www.hbo.com/carnivale

Am I right in thinking that they screened Curb Your Enthusiasm too? Nah, I quite liked this show, but for the Maddox in all of us, check out The Mind of the Married Man late on Monday nights/Tuesday morning (Channel 9/HBO too!). He likes you too. Seriously, I saw him dancing to Something For Kate in the lobby. "!Kcor s'tel" said he.

Hey, this show doesn't sound too bad, so I'd probably give it a go if and when it ever reaches our shores (undoubtedly to be screened around 11:30pm on some obscure weeknight). If it's got a freakshow, I'm there! I love that whole carnival-horror- Something Wicked This Way Comes aesthetic . Yeah, that was a Channel 9 show too James. One they desperately need to bring back on. ~Ferrero

So Diane, does this mean you've finally started watching "Twin Peaks"? It does indeed. It's taken me a while to get around to posting about it, but I really, really loved it. I'm tempted to by a copy of the boxset for myself. Agent Cooper is one of the coolest characters in the history of television, and I've finally managed to forgive Maclachlan for Showgirls. When does the 2nd season come out on DVD? I really wanna see it!

Did you get an all access pass to the Red Room too? Yep... but I had to twist their arm.

Yar. It's taking forever. There are countless rumours. I think I heard it's supposed to be released in the UK by the end of this year, with Australia to follow soon after. It's a mess, though. The USA season 1 dvds didn't contain the pilot episode due to rights issues. Who knows what will happen with season 2.

The show is really quite excellent. One of the best period recreations I've seen on TV in quite a while. Plus it's entertaining as all heck.
But then, I do like freaks. Bearded chicks are cute.

It took about a week, but I downloaded the first episode of Carnivàle. I don't think we're gonna see it around here any time soon.
It's a shame, because it's really quite cool. It's a bit heavy-handed at times, but there's dfinitely enough intrigue to keep you watching. I've got the second ep on the D' load now. Whiggidy-wah-wah.
