I was looking through Judd's page again on the IMDB the other day and well I knew he was married with children but I never knew who his wife was. Anyway I clicked on her name and it turns out she is an actress named Leslie Mann, she was in Orange County, Big Daddy, George of the Jungle, The Cable Guy, etc... the kind of actor you know, but never know the name of. Just some bits and pieces- "By the mid-90s, she beat out 500 other aspiring actresses two years later for the role of Matthew Broderick's girlfriend in The Cable Guy. Though her talent won the part, her looks caught the eye of the film's producer Judd Apatow, who said as she left the room, "There goes the future Mrs. Apatow." The two began dating and eventually married." "I met Judd in the last phase of my auditioning process [for the Cable Guy]. After I walked out of the room, I was told he said, 'There goes the future Mrs. Apatow.' And about a month into shooting, he asked me out to a Laker game. I thought he wasn't really my type at the time. And then we kissed, and it was all over." "Apatow is a good friend of Adam Sandler and in his single days, the two roomed together. Though Apatow, Mann became good friends with Sandler, who cast her as his best friend's bitchy fiancée in his 1999 hit comedy, Big Daddy". "I've known Adam for about four years now. In fact, my husband lived with him, like, 11 years ago when they were both starting out. It was like being with a family every day, very enjoyable". I'm also guessing that the Apatow/Mike White connection was a factor in her role in Orange County. They have two daughters named Maude and Iris. "When I was in seventh grade I went on vacation to California. While driving through Beverly Hills I saw Steve Martin standing outside on his lawn. I asked him for an autograph. He said he didn't sign autographs at his house. I then asked him to sign it in the street. He refused. I ran home and wrote him a letter asking for an apology. "How dare you not give me an autograph. If I didn't buy your records and see your movies you wouldn't be able to afford that house. If you do not send me a written apology I will send your address to homes of the stars and you will have tour buses passing by your house night and day." Three months later I received an autographed book of "Cruel Shoes." In it he wrote, "To Judd, I'm sorry. I didn't realize I was speaking to the Judd Apatow." That small kindness only made me more obsessed with comedy". Source- www.freaksandgeeks.com/HeadGeeks/writersroom.taf?section_id=writersroom_ja

That small kindness only made me more obsessed with comedy." I remember reading that on the site and being insanely jealous because not only has he met my IDOL Steve Martin, but his copy of "Cruel Shoes" is autographed and mine isn't. Speaking of which, I'm currently reading Steve's new novel, "The Pleasure of My Company", and I should finish it tonight. He writes really well, all his books are great (and especially his "Lapin Agile" play which I adore) and it was a short essay he wrote called "Writing Is Easy!" from his book "Pure Drivel" which helped convince me that I could actually write myself ... as in make sentences.

Just on the Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow thing, the most obvious collabaration would have to Chokin' and Tokin' where she played Bill's hot teacher Ms. Foote.

So it was Leslie Mann all along... I never made the connection. I read this interview about three months ago. It's a great source of info on Judd and Undeclared. I've rediscovered some fodder for the Seth Rogen thread. And there was this part too: Thank Christ that straight-edge shit never happened. Way too 'whacky-sitcom universe'.

'Sup peeps! I was trying to investigate why the producers of Undeclared were so obsessed with TiVo. Not much luck there, but I found this curious tidbit. www.filmthreat.com/Features.asp?Id=390I never really got into That 70s Show. Maybe it's for the best; there's nothing worse than being biased!
