Yep - he was freakishly good in Cold Mountain. And just plain freaky too I didn't even recognise him, until I saw his name in the end credits! So I'm guessing he's English, but is that accent of his in Undeclared real or what? Is it just me or does it sound kind of shaky? Maybe Lloyd's going through some trans-Atlantic transition from Anglo to Americano? ~Ferrero

Maybe Lloyd's going through some trans-Atlantic transition from Anglo to Americano? ~Ferrero I was actually asking the same question when I saw my first ep of Undeclared, so much so that I looked him up on IMDb.com: www.imdb.com/name/nm0402271/Sure enough, he was born in England. So what's up with the accent? It was good, but not flawless. To my memory, Lloyd's character is meant to be from London, but Charlie himself is born in Newcastle. This could explain something; I don't know how different the accents are between the two places, but I believe it's pretty different. Newcastle's righ in the north of England, where London lies much further South. I read recently that Jane Leeves from Frasier, though born in Essex and raised in Sussex, affects a totally different accent for the show (Mancurian). I think this is the answer to our mutual question: Charlie was asked to play a character from elsewhere in England (yeah, I'm pretty sure it was London) so that his thick Northern accent wasn't such a language barrier for viewers. Hilary: Hey, Lloyd, um, I was thinking that maybe this transition is kinda difficut for you, y'know? You've come from such a faraway place.

hahaha. newcastle vs london accent. you'd have to be man to not notice the difference. newcastle is all wye ay man and london's.. well.. all landanie.
but i guess whenever i've heard an english person in an american show, it's no so much the accent you hear as how much of a nobber they sound.

Eh heh heh... Well, you've got the edge on us on this subject, Christopher. So where would you place this particular nobber's accent? BTW, when I was a kid, I had a friend called Christopher, and we all called him "Oofie" (as in Christ oofer). Can I please, please call you Oofie too?
