Kids, sorry I've been so absent of late, but I've been working my arse off on my most recent project, a web-based TV show that I'm gonna be filming in June.
Now, this show involves a fair whack of costume hire, and I'm currently racking my brains as to how I can best raise the neccessary funds (we're talking about $500-$700). Have you lot heard of any advances in the fields of alms-taking, titheing or generally just getting people to give you money?
> Raffles? > Movie screenings? > Prostitution? (could be problematic; like I say, I've already worked my arse off)
I know what creative types you all are, so please: help a brother from another mother out, by helping me think of some ideas! Please?

Have you tried offering screen credit in exchange for free (or discounted) rentals?

Yeah, it's a standard practice to try that, but most costume retails don't bite when it comes to discounting for schools and such. It usually works for catering though. It's really quite easy to get free food if you say that it's for a film.

Perhaps a web based scam of some sort? A raffle only really works well if you have an uber cool prize to give away. A sausage sizzle could work, assuming your could get the food for free. You sell 200 snags for $2, that's $400...it's just a matter of getting the food.

yes, credit card fraud is easy - a current affair told me so (or rather, the ad).

James, what are your goals here? Just doing it for the experience? Something more? How will you judge it a success? Spill all the details

Sell chocolates. That's what all the kids do. Seems to work but make sure you find a group of kids to help you as people can't resist either kids or readily accessible chocolate. You will make at least $10 for sure. Maybe sell a organ. I hear the Chinese black market has a roaring trade in organs. You could probably get a tonne for a kidney. Make sure you get someone reputable to harvest it though. You don't want an infection. Start busking as a transvestite entertainer extraordinaire down at Rundle St. Mall. Make sure you wear the pink. It suits you. And if all else fails turn to meat trays. The punters love their meat trays.

Still no $$$ in sight; I think I might need to borrow some money from a relative, THEN raise the funds to pay them back.
Looks like sausage sizzles and choccies are the best option, but I'd love to do something like a quiz night or movie screening. Maybe just the movie screening.
Brian asked why I hadn't posted anything much about the project yet on my eljay. I told him the project had it's own blog. It's not hard to find if you look. Try Google or the iTMS. A girl must maintain a modicum of mystery.

Hey everyone. I'm still here.
Right now I'm sick. My project starts filming in six days. Still much, much to do. Frightened.
Just wanted to say hi, to let you all know that I'm still here. Keep posting; OzFreaks keeps me company on those lonely nights at sea. Aargh.
