Probably because I'm tired from slaving away at Uni all day long, whilst you have been attending a single two hour exam. Okay I think I've grasped the main point of that paragraph but I will refrain from any obvious comments.

I hope so, man, I really do. We're all here for you, as I'm sure you know. The HSC is a bitch, that's for sure, but it's almost over! That's the beauty of it. Go see this guy tomorrow and see what he reckons. You can always get special dispensation (is that even how you spell it? Okay, so my HSC was about 5 years ago, a lot has changed since then! ;D). Even if you don't feel confident about going, stuff that - just go. At least you can say you did it, regardless of whatever mark you end up getting. And besides, they take so bloody long to mark those things, you'll have totally forgotten about it by the time you get your results. And you'll have all the time in the world to get drunk once it's over, trust me. ~Ferrero

But do you actually feel insane? ? ? I hope not. You sound very lucid and with-it to me. And you're right, some stupid exams aren't worth having a spack-attack over. But by the same token, they're not worth chucking everything in for either. They're just stupid exams. You wake up in the morning, you get dressed, you catch the bus, you go to the hall, you sharpen your pencils, you make lots of squeaky noises with your shoes on the polished wood floor, you write like mad for three hours, or you take it easy and have a nap and then bing! That one's over. Cross it off the list. Go and sit in the sun (or splash about in the rain as the case may be at the moment). In my experience, nothing in my life has been harder than the HSC. So if you can make it through this (and I know you can), then the rest is easy. ~Ferrero

I did my HSC in 2002 and the experience has scarred me for life. Personally, I suffered from the most anxiety I ever suffered in my life during those few months. It was difficult just getting up each day and studying or even attending the exam itself. Like Ferrero, I also believe that, academically, nothing in my life has been as hard as the HSC was. Uni is a like a wonderful holiday in comparison. I haven't really offered any advice here. Oh I know, the tests are a lot easier than the assessments. The questions are like a billion times more standardised because they have to be attempted by people from wide range intelligence levels. I failed Maths in the trial HSC but in the HSC exam I got 87. Did you study directly from the syllabus points? I did and it was the best thing ever because they can't test you on anything that's not in there, so I would just get out the syllabus and write answers to each point. Time consuming but effective. I really hope that you're feeling okay at the moment. There are heaps of second chances available if you don't complete the HSC this time around. Alternative entry into uni, TAFE. It's so not the end of the world like people make it out to be! God speed FooBoy. May the force be with you.

It was an anxious time for me, but unlike the "18 year old women" of which you speak, I didn't need to cry because I fucking aced all my exams. I'm sure it's not just women who get stressed about exams or care about their academic performance. For instance, Mike cares about his marks. He wanted HDs but his tutors cruelly robbed him of one or two defining marks, thus leaving him with Distinctions. Poor kid.

no of course not, but at least none of my friends really gave a toss, and it caused me much confusion seeing girls crying as they came out of the eam halls, and they weren't tears of happiness.
